The Jazz Appreciate Their Richest 10,000 Fans

Last night Golden State cut Utah’s lead to 2-1 with a dynamic 125-105 win before a raucous crowd in Oakland. The fans at Oracle arena were more intense than their counterparts in Salt Lake City, and there is at least one reason why. The Jazz only gave out t-shirts to the people in the most expensive seats. That’s right—-many Jazz fans who sat in the nosebleeds for game 2 are angry the team only gave away t-shirts to the fans sitting in the lower, more expensive seats. Jazz officials say that like most promotions, they only had 10,000 shirts, but instead of giving them to the first 10,000 fans through the door, they decided to give them to the fans in the lower sections because it “looks good on TV.”

Meanwhile, earlier in the week Matt Barnes fired his agent Bill Neff. Barnes plans to sign with Dan Fegan, an agent with a reputation for hardball negotiation. You really have to feel bad for Neff. He sticks with Barnes through all the cuts and 10 day contracts, and now that he is on the cusp of finally cashing in Barnes cuts him loose. It’s like that Seinfeld episode where Elaine is trying to achieve her dream of dating a doctor, but when her boyfriend (skillfully played by Bob Odenkirk) finally passes his test because of her help, he dumps her because the dream of becoming a doctor is to break up with whoever you’re with and find somebody better.  I guess dumping your agent is the dream of finally becoming a player capable of getting a team’s full mid-level cap exception.

I have heard that the jazz didn’t change their name because they didn’t want to change the logo. So they have been notoriously cheap
