Obama Weighs In On Bonds

On Wednesday President Bush called Barry Bonds to congratulate him on his new record, but Barack Obama would have gone a step further. Obama said yesterday that he “probably would” have invited Bonds to the White House.
That’s not all the presidential candidate had to say about about sports in America.
“It’s a remarkable achievement,” Obama said. “And he deserves, I think, our congratulations. I remain concerned about the cloud that exists not just in baseball but in everything from basketball to the Tour de France. I mean you just get a sense right now that sports is suffering from a crisis of confidence and my hope is that all the various sports leagues take those responsibilities seriously. I left out Michael Vick and what’s happening in the National Football League. So you basically have every single sport suffering from some major questions.”
When was the last time Hillary Clinton or Mitt Romney took the time discuss the importance of the NFL’s scofflaws? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—a president who understands the threats posed by Pacman Jones is a president who can keep America safe.
