Training Camp Pressure Kicking

One thing teams can’t do in training camp is simulate the pressure of a late game kick. Nevertheless, Andy Reid and Mike Tomlin are doing their best their best to try. In the last month both coaches have made their kickers responsible for earning a break for their teammates.

At Eagles training camp it was a night off that was at stake when David Akers lined up to kick a 43 yard field goal. Akers drilled the kick through the uprights and earned his teammates a night out on the town. Tomlin wasn’t quite as generous. He just offered to end practice a little bit early if Jeff Reed could hit a field goal from 42 yard out. Reed also made his kick and the rest of the Steelers got to go home early.

It’s not quite the final minute of a playoff game, but there is a lot of pressure in trying to avoid a locker room beating.
