The Raiders Have a Secret Weapon

It can be hard running an NFL training camp when you have the worst team in the league and your star rookie quarterback is unsigned. Fortunately, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin has found something for his team to work on. Body Language.

“Body language,” is the unofficial mantra of the 2007 training camp. Tom Rathman preaches it to his running backs…Tom Cable insists on it with his offensive linemen…Rob Ryan yells it out to his defense…Kiffin and his staff are watching their players in between plays, in hallways and meeting rooms.

“When I meet with them individually, I tell them, `Make it so we can’t cut you,’ ” Kiffin said. “Whether it’s your body language or the way you practice or the way you carry your playbook or the way you act outside of this building, don’t ever give us a reason to cut you. People show a lot about themselves when you’re not necessarily looking right at them. Those are the players that we want, players we can trust.”

Well, if you’re going to lose, you might as well look good doing it.

I hope that isn’t the only thing is stressing to his players. I agree with Kiffin that attitude goes a long way in making a winning atmosphere. I think it is good to say. But the Raiders need a lot more help than that.

I could just about see where Al gets impatient and fires poor Lane Kiffin if things are rocky during the season. Marty Schottenheimer lurks in the wings….

Sorry about the Moss trade guys; not the most recent one, but the one with minnesota. It sucked for both teams!
